Yoga offers a wide range of health benefits for expectant mothers.

Yoga during pregnancy can help you face some of the challenges that pregnancy brings such as a shifting centre of gravity and lower back pain.

Yoga during pregnancy can help promote:

  • Better sleep
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Increased strength, flexibility and stamina in the muscles used during childbirth
  • Reduced lower back pain, nausea, head aches and shortness of breath.

The course focuses on:

  • Breathing - We lead you through guided breathing exercises to get you breathing deeply in and our through your nose. Prenatal yoga breathing techniques can help you reduce and better deal with shortness of breath during pregnancy.
  • Gentle stretching - You will be guided to gently and carefully move different parts of your body, such as your neck and arms.
  • Positions - As you stand, sit and lie down, you will train your body to move between each position to develop your strength, flexibility and balance.
  • Relaxation and warm down - At the end of each class you will relax and gently slow your breathing back down. You might be asked to focus on your breathing, or your feelings, or thoughts or to repeat a mantra to attain a state of self awareness and inner calm.

Beate Lid Skodje is a certified yoga instructor and has led yoga classes since 2014. At ADO she has been teaching since 2021 and does pregnant and yin yoga.

She has broad experience, and has a unique ability to adapt yoga for different levels and needs. She is a certified Mindfulness instructor and has taught a number of courses in this.

Beate focuses on breathing and that the yoga mat can be a sanctuary. Yoga is a work in and not a work out.
